10 Year planning Permission and 35 year operational life wind farm

In response to the information received in your letters dated 5th August and 22nd July 2025 concerning the current appeal on the above development.
We are writing to confirm our full support of the submission made by Carlow County Council on the 10th July 2025, upholding their decision to refuse planning permission for the proposed development by Coillte/Future Energy Ireland.
Carlow County Development Plan 2022-2028 (CDP) was adopted by our elected members on the 23rd May 2022 in accordance with National Policy Framework requirements. The CDP in County Carlow and associated policies were developed following extensive consultation with the people of Carlow, and we reiterate our support for both the consultation process and the final adopted plan.
We reiterate the point made by Carlow County Council that since the adoption of the CDP plan in 2022, in excess of 372MW of renewable energy has been granted in County Carlow, which is far in excess of the minimum of 130MW as set out within the CDP 2022-2028. This is further exceeded by an additional 300MW of renewable energy solar developments currently under consideration within the planning system in Carlow County Council.
We question the accuracy and veracity of much of the content within the document dated February 2024, produced by Fehily Timoney, and ask that the content be independently checked and verified by the board before considering it during the review process.
